Packing my bags

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

It’s that time of year when I pack my bags and head east for the National Stationery Show. As I talked about (typed) earlier, it’s my fifteenth year attending the show.  It’s a great place to reconnect with the industry as a whole and get the creative juices flowing.  I always return home with a bag and brain full of ideas.

Don’t worry, it’s not all work.  I’ll be seeing high school friends and some college pals.  That’s the great thing about NYC, everyone knows someone in New York.  So tomorrow morning I get on a jet plane for my full day of travel.

Speaking of travel, below is our airplane design on a baby announcement.

The airplane is a great design not only for announcing the arrival of your little boy, but also for birthday parties and note cards.

Letters from Lilly is proud to be shown in the latest Stationery Trends magazine.  Our bridal bouquet is on page 13 as one of their Fresh Picks!  Be sure to pick up a copy at the National Stationery Show or on their site www.stationerytrendsmag.com.

A great publication for our industry and we’re proud to be mentioned in the latest issue! Thanks Stationery Trends.

Safe travels and I’ll be back in touch upon my return next week.

Travel Tip: Give your child a drink during take-off & landing. It’s the best things for their ears and they will also be relaxed.
If your child is big, then carry cotton or ask for earplugs as soon as you board the aircraft. Make use of them for take-off then save them for landing as the crew may not have any fresh ones left by then. This helps the kids tremendously if they don’t know how to pop their ears. Things are starting to Buzz…zz

Friday, April 10th, 2009

There is all kinds of activity around here.  People are buzzing, the air is buzzing. Our bees are certainly buzzing louder than anything!  We have orders coming in for retirement parties (how lovely), bridal showers (how grand), surprise birthday parties (how fun) and my favorite was the elopement (how fabulous)! All asking to use our bumble bee for their special occasions! I love that!

I must say that I love our bumble bees, but only on paper and fabrics or on things like these planters below.  Aren’t they nice? I also adore bumble bee pins.

It might surprise you to know that I have an entire wall, in my house, full of honeycomb.  Right.  Bees make me panic because when I see a bee, I know they are searching out my walls.  We don’t have snow removal here, we have bee removal.  We have taken out bricks in our chimney and had huge honeycombs pulled out.  The first time it was REALLY cool, now… not so much.

So let’s keep the bees to pretty things like planters, stickers, and stationery and keep them far from… me, unless it’s the jewelry… honey.

Buzzz…

Happy Birthday Lilly

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

It’s one of the perks of having a stationery company named after you.  You can ask for special things for your own party invitations.  Lilly wanted to have her dolls sitting at a little table.  One doll would look just like her with blonde hair and a pink dress.  The other doll would look just like her friend, Emma.  Emma has brown hair and loves yellow as much as Lilly adores pink.  And so the Dolls at Table came to life for Lilly’s 9th birthday.

inv_dollsattable_text1Today, Lilly turned twelve.  So much has changed since she turned nine.  But not the friendship with Emma.  They still shared special birthday wishes today.

Happy Birthday my sweet Lilly.

New Valentine’s Day Design

Letters from Lilly

We are very excited to start 2009 with a Blog for you.  This is a space we will use to share our designs and products in a way that will expand your thinking. We’ll share fun facts and tasty tidbits about communicating and about things you might never have known without us sharing.

Introducing our new HEART design, just in time for Valentine’s Day.  Did you know…according to one legend, Valentine actually sent the first ‘valentine’ greeting himself. While in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl — who may have been his jailor’s daughter — who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed ‘From your Valentine,’ an expression that is still in use today.
