The Olympics!

flag

http://www.techdigest.tv/olympic-apps-thumb.jpgIt’s that fabulous time again. In just over an hour, The Olympics will begin. I’m excited to watch them wherever I am, at any given time. This is the first year in our history that we can watch The Olympics on the go; literally.

Just 4 years ago, there were no iphones or ipads. How did we survive? Now we can carry our American pride with us and watch Michael Phelps, and others, win gold while we shop, wait for an appointment, or eat dinner on the beach. There will be 1 billion people watching the Opening Ceremonies today, many on handheld devices. The official site www.london2012.com.

I remember as a kid, my brother and I would hurry to eat dinner and get in our pajamas so we could settle into the shag carpeting, on our stomachs, side by side, with our chins in our hands watching the gymnastics, swimming, sculling, sailing and more. I loved the stories about the athletes, their training and learning about the hometown that we’d never heard of until they won gold.

There is a great video showing the Olympic feat the city of London has had to endure to get ready for so many athletes and spectators. There are actually 11 webcams set up around the Olympic village where you can tune in to see current action.

I’m sure my future posts will continue to share Olympic memories. I’ll be waving  my American flag, but I really cheer for all the athletes because I love their dedication and determination. The Olympics to me are the one time the world comes together to compete together, having fun all the while.countries homepage

Our American flag design is perfect to show your American pride during the Olympics or any of the other holidays where we fly the red, white and blue.

Window Boxes = Smiles

note_windowbox_textEvery once in a while, I get the opportunity to do a feel good project. What is a feel good project you ask? A feel good project is something like planting a tree or doing a project in your home that just feels good. I know you can relate to the necessary project. Those are things like fixing a leaky roof, buying a dehumidifier, replacing your furnace. I don’t like those projects. As a matter of fact, I remember saying to my husband, when I was new to owning a home, “I just think that dehumidifiers should be free.” He laughed. Honestly, they are no fun. Yes, they collect unnecessary humidity in your basement but they are loud, they get in the way, they need to be emptied and they are money spent out of necessity, not enjoyment.windowbox

I like the feel good projects. Putting window boxes on my house recently was my feel good project. I have always pictured this house with flower boxes, but I received an added bonus when these went up. I knew I’d like them from the outside, but I had no idea how amazing they are from the inside! Now when I look out my kitchen window, I see flowers right outside my window.

If you are working on necessary projects, it’s really ok, just get some of our Letters from Lilly stationery with the window box design. It will bring you smiles too.
